Hypoworry is an online psychological counseling platform established to enable individuals to know themselves better, feel better, and develop a more positive perspective on life. Our website and mobile application aim to build a bridge between wide-ranging psychologists and to establish the healthiest communication.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Counselling

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is extensive evidence-based and is one of the most widely used effective approaches to cope with depression, anxiety problems, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and phobias.

Furthermore, difficulties in sleep, anger management, low self-esteem, and physical health problems may be addressed by CBT. It is based on the theory that thoughts, emotions, actions, and bodily sensations are all connected to each other. Thus, the alteration of one of these elements may influence the others.

When dealing with anxiety or distress, we often engage in thought and reaction patterns that can aggravate our emotions. CBT aids us to identify and alter maladaptive thinking styles or behavioral patterns to enhance our emotional state.

The Efficacy of CBT

You and your psychologist will work together to break down problems into separate components: the event, thoughts, physical sensations, and behavior while also assessing your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to decide if they are unrealistic and examine their impact on one another and on you.

You will maintain a record of your thoughts and behaviors. Tasks will also be assigned during therapy sessions.

Once you identify what can be changed, you will implement those changes in your daily life. Upcoming sessions will be centered on your progress in implementing these alterations; finally, you will apply the abilities you’ve obtained during CBT to your everyday life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is derived from the widely recognized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and aims to assist individuals in achieving a fulfilling and meaningful life while acknowledging the inevitable pain that comes with it.

It has proven to be highly effective in treating depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance abuse, trauma, psychosis, chronic pain, and anorexia. The focus of ACT is learning to accept what is beyond one’s personal control and to commit to actions that enhance life, in accordance with one’s core values. For example, if you are troubled by memories of past events, it is essential to accept that the event took place, and the accompanying emotions can eventually lessen. We are all human, and we all experience pain from time to time! Accepting this may sometimes lead to less suffering than trying to fight it.

Embrace what is beyond your personal control and be in the present moment.

Select a valuable direction.

Make a move.

The Efficacy of ACT

With your psychologist, you will delve into the main aspects of your life (relationships, career, leisure, etc.) and help identify what is genuinely important and meaningful to your values. This knowledge will then be used to guide, inspire, and motivate you to make positive changes in your life.

You will develop mindfulness techniques and strategies to cope with challenging thoughts and emotions which eventually have much less impact and influence over you. Homework tasks will also be assigned between sessions.

You will work towards taking effective action to create an enriched and meaningful life.

Your psychologist will act as a coach, helping you stay focused on building resilience so that you can live the life you desire rather than being limited by the influence of negative thoughts and emotions.

Since its inception in the 1980s, ACT has become a reputable evidence-based psychological therapy for certain disorders. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines (known for producing high-quality clinical guidelines) also recommend this therapy based on a substantial evidence base.

What is Cognitive Analytic Counselling?

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) is an effective approach in treating depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and eating disorders.

CAT examines the problematic ways you think, feel, and act while providing a cooperative approach to understanding the roots of your distress, which is often caused by early life experiences or childhood). It also explores how these difficulties might be maintained by the coping mechanisms and management strategies you’ve developed for dealing with problems, emotions, and needs.

If you find your relationships with others troubling, CAT might be the right therapy approach for you.
